The Godfire Saga is an urban fantasy series that focuses mainly on Elias Fetch, a fixer of supernatural problems, who dabbles on the side as a detective when not actively being chased by whatever creatures decide to show up on his doorstep, as he goes about living in a modern world where magic and everyday life collide.
I wanted to write about someone who was flawed but refused to let that define them. Elias was dealt a terrible hand, but he still chooses to get up every day and tries to leave the world a little better than he found it. The Godfire Saga is, at its heart, a story about perseverance, loss, and the difficult choice to do the right thing when every easier path points in the opposite direction.
No. Elias's language alone would give this book an R rating if that existed, but there are also some areas of graphic violence. Teens, young adults, and adults will be fans of this book, but young audiences might be a bit overwhelmed by the topics.
Yes. While each book has its own story, The Godfire Saga is one continuous narrative, and you'll get the most out of the series by starting with Gods and Monsters.
Four so far, but I have plans for at least 2 more beyond that at the moment.
Yes! I write science fiction, high fantasy, and, when the mood strikes, poetry and short stories as well. I've also been known to get a bit carried away when creating magic systems, which I have no use for whatsoever, for fun.
Any kind. That goes for all literature, honestly. If there is a good book, I will dive headfirst and not come up for air. My most recent love has been the Red Rising Series by Pierce Brown. His work has been an absolute joy to read and analyze.
When I have the time and life is not a tornado, I try to find a tiny window of quiet, sit down at whatever device or notebook is nearby, and write. The things I write are as surprising for me as they are for anyone reading them, as the story comes to me exactly as it does for the reader. I don't plan, and even though I've tried many, many times to outline, the characters seem to choose where the story goes more than I ever can. I try to write daily for at least an hour if I can, and I have a goal of 150 words a day. It's a small goal and attainable most of the time, and I often surpass it quite a bit more than I expect, but it's a goal nonetheless.
I love writing them all, especially Elias and Crom, but there are some that will be introduced later in the series that I have absolutely fallen in love with writing. You'll have to keep reading to find them out!
The magic in The Godfire Saga is not based on myth, although there is some myth interwoven into the story. Magic in this universe comes from several places, but its origins are a mystery... for now.
Yes, even ones that don't include Elias Fetch at all.
I haven't yet, but I am hoping to once Gods and Monsters launches in February. I will make sure to keep everyone up to date and send the information out through my newsletter when I can!
